I’m Carla, a chef based in Cambridgeshire, UK.

Food has been stitched into my life since I was young - the first dish I ever cooked at about 10 years old is a vivid memory for me, it was a Jamie Oliver recipe consisting of cream cheese stuffed chicken breast wrapped in parma ham, it was the worst thing I ever made in my life, severely overcooked, but my family kindly sat and ate the whole thing! Then years later, I started pulling espresso shots as a young teen, and then went on to train as a professional barista in London at 15 years old! I still remember the fear of getting on a train to London and back then - all I had was a bit of paper with instructions on how to get to the coffee school! Throughout the following years I worked my way through all corners of hospitality, as well as working some very strange jobs to get by, but ultimately found the only thing that brought me true excitement and joy was when the weekend came, and I got to be creative in the kitchen, host a brunch or Sunday lunch!

These days you might find me at private dining events, hosting supper clubs, and cooking for teams, retreats & private clients in the comfort of their own home.

I cook with a focus on seasonal, homegrown (when I can!) and or locally sourced ingredients, turning them into tasty plates that are thoughtful and made with real respect for the ingredients - whether that’s for a tasting menu, a rustic family-style feast, or power-packed menus for athletes.

Gardening is a big part of me and what I do, and when I'm not as busy cooking, I'm growing. I have a real passion for garden to plate cheffing and try and integrate this into my work as much as I can. In the winter I focus more on local produce until spring when I hope that I can grow a bit more to share with my clients. There's something really rewarding about showing up to a clients house with a jar of homemade and homegrown sweet chilli jam to smother on a starter or a cheeseboard!
